Overview & Highlights

Welcome to 1923 Blackwood Cafe, a delightful eatery nestled in the peaceful suburb of Blackwood, South Australia. This charming cafe offers a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere, perfect for catching up with friends, enjoying a cozy breakfast, or savoring a refreshing cold drink.

The menu is a true testament to the cafe’s commitment to quality and variety. Start your day with a delicious breakfast—perhaps a rich Iced Latte for just A$7.00 or a delightful Breakfast Smoothie at A$10.00 that’s packed with fresh flavors. For those with heartier appetites, the options are equally enticing. Indulge in the Smoked Salmon Bagel or the indulgent Chicken Burger, both priced at A$19.00, or try the savory Steak Sandwich for A$26.00, which promises satisfaction with every delicious bite.

The cafe also caters to a range of dietary preferences. Vegans will be pleased to find delicious options like a flavorful Tofu Scramble and the inventive Savoury Crepes. Customers rave about the Lemon & Myrtle pancakes, a standout dish that captures the essence of local flavors – and at A$22.00 for the Falafel & Quinoa Salad, you’re in for a nutritious treat that’s equally exquisite.

As you savor your meal, you'll appreciate the inviting ambiance—an indoor area that’s cozy and vibrant, complemented by a covered outdoor space that’s perfect for dog owners and those looking to enjoy their coffee amidst nature. Many guests have shared their appreciation for the warm and friendly service, making every visit feel special. For example, Nicole Greeneklee praises the cafe for being a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the Blackwood roundabout, while Stephanie Chamberlain highlights their impressive vegan offerings and the quality of their coffee.

However, not all experiences have been perfect; some guests, like Sharon H, mentioned that slightly colder days may require better heating inside. Nonetheless, the overall sentiment from patrons is overwhelmingly positive, with many eager to return due to the enjoyable atmosphere and delectable food. As Jeff (an ambassador) puts it, the attention to detail in food presentation and quality ensures that you leave satisfied and looking forward to your next visit.

In essence, 1923 Blackwood Cafe is more than just a place to grab a bite or a coffee; it’s a community hub where flavors meet friendliness, and each meal is crafted with care. Make sure to stop by for a truly enjoyable experience—your taste buds will thank you!

Lovely little cafe that's far enough away from the chaos of the blackwood roundabout but still well within walking distance. The coffee is amazing and I've never had a bad food item here. Covered outdoor area is dog friendly and clean. Staff are always friendly and polite

Fantastic place with 2 amazing vegan options! The flavours and serving side were fantastic. Also Bonsoy milk and great coffee. Really appreciated it.

Enjoyed the breakfasts here, great quality food and presentation. Coffee is also good too. I'll be back. Update, I've been back, had the same and am blown away by the presentation + the eggs are so silky. I can see they care about what goes on the plate and how

Very good food, omelette was delicious but the salad could've done with a little bit of dressing. Great coffee and fast service.

We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday and although busy, there was a table available (without booking) and the staff were super friendly, funny and nice to deal with. We had coffee, fresh juice and two breakfasts. Prices were the usual for a decent café and everything tasted great. We’ll definitely be back again.

Love this little gem in Blackwood .. but our our last visit was early one COLD weekday morning for brunch. Unfortunately, even sitting at an inside table, the heating was almost non-existant so we rushed our breakfast and left. If the heat had been on, we would have happily ordered another coffee.

Lunch for 4 people and everyone was very happy with their meal. All were different and I had the Lemon & Myrtle pancakes which were gorgeous. Highly recommended.

They did an absolutely delicious tofu scramble - great taste and generous portion. Even the mushroom side was generous and very flavoursome. The snickers slice was also very tasty (not at all coconut-oil-tasting as many are). They have a number of other vegan options too, which sound good. Appreciate them having Bonsoy too. Great coffee. Very glad this little gem was recommended to us.
